Recently I did a series of photo-shoots for Wm Armstrong and Sons Vintage Clothing Emporium, Edinburgh. They were looking for promo shots for magazines etc. This is one from the first shoot - "Dandy" was the theme.
The photo is fair, but barely keeps with theme, and mostly superficially.
Its background is far too busy - instead of making the bright colours jump out, it causes them to be absorbed. Better use of lighting may have helped bring the subject forward. (The white in the wallpaper is reflecting the red too much.)
As for composition, the large amount of empty space to the top and viewer's left makes the other sides seem badly cut off. If the idea of "emerging" from one side of the photo was the intention, it could be better executed.
Costumes and props, upon close inspection, appear haphazardly chosen.
However, overall, from a noncritical view, I do like the picture, and its a good attempt. Being as this came out over a year ago, I wonder how was it received?

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
